Jin10 Data, August 4 - Swiss Economic Minister Guy Parmelin stated that in response to Trump’s announcement of a 39% import tariff on Switzerland, the Swiss government is willing to readjust its trade proposal to the U.S. in search of a solution. The Swiss cabinet will hold a special meeting on Monday to discuss the next steps. Parmelin said, "Time is tight, and it may be difficult to complete anything before August 7, but we will do our utmost to show sincerity and modify our proposal." He pointed out that Trump is concerned about the U.S.-Switzerland trade deficit, which reached 38.5 billion Swiss francs (approximately 48 billion USD) last year. Switzerland is considering increasing its procurement of U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) as one potential alleviation option. Another option is to encourage Swiss companies to further expand their investment in the U.S., which is Switzerland's largest market for exports in pharmaceuticals, watches, and machinery.
