In the first half of 2025, more than $3 billion was stolen due to 119 hacks - this exceeds the figures for the whole of 2024, according to Global Ledger.
Laundering the stolen funds takes a matter of minutes, and in 23% of cases it is completed before the incident is publicly disclosed.
Only 4.2% of the funds were recovered. 15% of the laundered assets passed through centralized exchanges, which have only 10-15 minutes to block. Most of the losses (54%) are associated with attacks on CEX exchanges.
Experts advise implementing automated real-time monitoring systems for a quick response.
