Global plastic governance negotiations have once again ended in failure.

Jin10 Data reported on August 16 that on the 15th local time, despite being postponed for a day, the new round of global plastic pollution governance negotiations still failed to reach a Consensus. This round of UN negotiations was supposed to be the final round of discussions aimed at formulating the first legally binding international protocol on plastic pollution (including marine plastic pollution). However, similar to the meeting held in South Korea last year, the negotiations again did not yield results. It is reported that the talks have been stalled on key issues such as whether to restrict the exponential rise in plastic production and whether to implement global legal constraints on toxic chemicals in plastic manufacturing.
