Argentinian President Javier Milei ( was involved in promoting the meme coin LIBRA on February 14 this year, leading to accusations of participating in the coin's pump and dump, which caused severe losses for tens of thousands of investors. Subsequently, Milei ordered the disbandment of the LIBRA investigation team on May 19 Taiwan time, causing a huge uproar.

The President of Argentina personally promotes meme coins, and LIBRA suddenly became popular at the end of February.

On February 14 of this year, Mireille tweeted )X( stating that LIBRA is a new tool to help entrepreneurs raise funds. Shortly after, LIBRA's market value surged to nearly 4 billion USD in just a few days, only to then plummet instantly, facing skepticism from the public regarding its involvement in the coin's speculation and facing fraud allegations.

In response, the Argentine government quickly established an investigation task force on 2/19 )Reasearch Task Unit( to address this incident.

Mirei officially disbanded the investigation team on May 19, and the opposition continued the investigation.

But on 5/19, Mireille signed an order with Argentine Minister of Justice Mariano Cúneo Libarona, announcing that the investigative team had completed its mission and was officially disbanded.

After the news broke, it immediately attracted criticism from the local parliamentary opposition, who believed that it was an attempt to cover up criminal facts and thus hastily dissolved. According to local media reports, the opposition is preparing to establish an investigation committee on 5/20.

Based on the good faith sharing of LIBRA, Mireille is trying to downplay the impact of the event.

Facing constant pressure from external public opinion, Mireille denied during the interview that promoting LIBRA was for personal gain. He stated:

"I found that LIBRA can actually help entrepreneurs raise funds, and I shared it out of goodwill, but I didn't expect to be accused of seeking personal gain."

Mireille also tried to downplay the impact of the entire incident, stating:

"At most, only 5,000 people are affected, and most of them are Americans and Chinese, with only about 4 or 5 Argentinians suffering losses."

12,900 investors lost approximately 251 million, Mireille lost 58% of local people's trust.

According to Nansan on-chain data:

More than 15,000 investors have invested in LIBRA.

Among them, as many as 86% of people lost money.

Total losses of approximately 251 million USD

The above data shows that the number of victims far exceeds the official statement from Argentina, raising doubts about whether the government is trying to downplay the impact of the incident. According to local polls, after the incident occurred, as many as 58% of Argentinians no longer trust Milei.

From the炒幣波動 to the trust crisis, how should Mirai stop the bleeding?

For Milei, who has very few supporters of liberalism in Argentina, the political stance of "cutting budgets, abolishing the central bank, and using dollars" aimed at breaking the old system and reshaping the economic reform image, is now losing the trust of the local people due to the LIBRA incident.

With the Argentine Congress launching another investigation, this turmoil may continue to escalate.
